A Burst of New Energy
Roosevelt Island in New York, NY, has transformed from a sleepy, well-kept secret into a vibrant urban environment, thanks to the opening of the new NYC Ferry port and the arrival of the Cornell Tech campus. This influx of visitors and residents highlighted the need for effective wayfinding to help newcomers navigate the island’s beautiful riverside walks and enjoy its clear skyline views.

A Comprehensive Wayfinding Solution
Entro, developed a comprehensive, multi-phased wayfinding project to unify and enhance the visitor experience. This project included the creation of:
- Directional Finger Signs: Clear and intuitive signs guiding visitors to key locations.
- Curved Map Kiosks: Strategically placed kiosks providing detailed maps and information.
- Placemaking Elements: A signature red monumental logo that announces arrival and brings the whole system together.
Roosevelt Island’s wayfinding program was designed to create a unified sense of place, encouraging engagement and discovery among tourists and residents. The cohesive design not only aids navigation but also enhances the island's identity and aesthetic appeal.
The wayfinding system is designed to encourage discovery and support navigation for both first-time sightseers and Roosevelt Island residents.
