A Landmark Entertainment Destination

The Great Canadian Casino Resort revitalization marked a transformative moment for the venue, requiring a design approach that integrated functionality and aesthetics for the unique character of the casino, theatre, and hotel. Our collaboration with Great Canadian Gaming involved a comprehensive scope of work, including exterior signage, interior signage, and parking signage for the hotel, casino, theatre, and parking areas.

Key features of the site include include:

  • Easy connectivity between the gaming precinct and broader development.
  • A grand lobby with wayfinding as a central hub for casino, racing, hotels, and the performance venue.
  • Integrated pedestrian, vehicular, and public transportation access.
  • A promenade animated with restaurant terraces and landscaped spaces for guests.

A Cohesive Yet Distinct Design Language

The goal was to create a cohesive wayfinding experience that connected every aspect of the site, and so we created timeless signage that celebrated the revitalized architecture while unifying the user experience across the property. To achieve this, we implemented consistent design forms throughout the site while varying material choices to align with the character of each space.

This approach struck a balance between the need for an individual identity for each space and a unified visual experience across the property. Strong views and access points, including landscaped open spaces and promenade terraces along the racetrack, further contributed to the guest experience.

Our material strategy was central to the project’s success. This ensured durability, aesthetic appeal, and alignment with the venue’s new identity.

Exterior pylon signs feature illuminated displays showcasing events and advertisements to captivate visitors upon arrival.

Interior signage incorporates metal mesh and painted aluminum to reflect a polished, modern aesthetic.

Inspiration from the Theatre

The newly designed theatre became the centre point of our design vision, symbolizing the site’s transformation. Its angular lines and dynamic energy influenced the overall signage language.

This project was an opportunity to redefine the guest experience through impactful signage design. As part of a larger master plan, this project contributes to a world-class entertainment destination.
