Andrew Kuzyk Announces Retirement from Entro
It is with heartfelt gratitude and warm appreciation that we announce the retirement of Andrew Kuzyk, co‑founder of Entro Communications, who has transitioned into a strategic advisory role after 35 years of leadership, innovation, and influence.

A Legacy of Design Innovation and Business Leadership
Andrew, alongside Wayne McCutcheon, founded Entro in Toronto in 1990, launching what would become a globally celebrated experiential design firm. From its early roots in signage and wayfinding, Entro evolved to master the design of immersive, branded environments—spanning public art, exhibitions, digital installations, and placemaking.
The company’s portfolio under Andrew’s stewardship includes remarkable projects such as University of Toronto, Canadian War Museum, transit systems in Toronto, York Region, Mississauga and Ottawa – each, a testament to Andrew’s commitment to making complex spaces intuitive and meaningful. Beyond design Andrew and Wayne expanded and evolved Entro’s experiential design practice across North America even into the Middle East and Australia.
Foundations in Design
Andrew Kuzyk’s journey into the world of design began at Carleton University’s School of Architecture, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in industrial design. The combination of the two programs was the perfect catalyst for creating experiences in the built environment with an emphasis on both technical and human-centered design, giving Andrew a strong grounding in creative problem solving, development, and critical thinking. These formative years shaped his philosophy that would later guide his pioneering work in experiential and environmental design.
Following graduation Andrew started his professional career with illustration and designing computers, store fixtures and furniture. In the late ‘80s, Andrew joined Signsplus International when the branded environmental graphic design field was still emerging. This experience exposed Andrew to the practical challenges of large-scale roll-out signage and wayfinding systems. His work there gave him both hands-on technical expertise and an understanding of the complex of the interplay between sign fabrication, architecture and environments.
Early Leadership in Environmental Graphic Design
At a time when “wayfinding” was predominantly an architectural or urban planning concept, Entro emerged as one of the earliest design firms to bring it into the graphic and environmental realm. Building upon theoretical frameworks—from Kevin A. Lynch’s The Image of the City (1960) to Paul Arthur and Romedi Passini’s 1992 treatise on wayfinding—Entro translated these ideas into real-world design solutions that help people intuitively navigate complex spaces.
As Chapter Chair of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design in Canada, Andrew helped strengthen the voice of experiential design across the country. He fostered collaboration, mentorship, and innovation, leaving a lasting impact on both the Canadian and global SEGD community. Andrew was also an exemplary mentor to the team at Entro, inspiring the team in ways of thinking differently and working to push the boundaries of design, professionalism and entrepreneurial spirit.

Recent Transformations and Strategic Evolution
Early, in the inception of Entro, Andrew and Wayne thought about succession – making conscious decisions to ensure the company could continue beyond their involvement and have a legacy of its own. This was realized mid-2025 with the announcement that Entro was acquired by Astria Elevate, an investor dedicated to scaling founder-led creative businesses, and the appointment of John Campanella as CEO.
In keeping with the succession plan, Andrew has opted to step away from day-to-day operations and assume an advisory role. This strategic shift ensures continuity in Entro’s identity and design ethos even as the company charts new growth under fresh leadership.

A Tribute to Andrew’s Enduring Impact
Andrew’s legacy is woven into every corridor, installation, and branded environment Entro has shaped. His vision for empathetic design—one that combines scientific insight, human behavior, and creative flair—has elevated how people experience transit hubs, healthcare settings, cultural venues, and more. His enduring influence now continues through the firm’s future evolution and innovation.
As Andrew steps into retirement, we are confident he will bring the same energy, creativity, and thoughtful perspective to this next chapter of his life as he has throughout his remarkable career. Whether pursuing personal passions, exploring new horizons, or enjoying more time with family and friends, Andrew’s vision and curiosity will no doubt continue to shape the world around him. While we will miss his daily presence at Entro, we celebrate this moment with excitement for all that lies ahead and gratitude for the legacy he leaves with us.
