Canada Post Unveils ROM Centen­nial Stamp

To commem­o­rate the ROM’s 100-year anniver­sary Canada Post has issued a set of two ROM Centen­nial stamps. Since the early seven­ties Gottschalk+Ash (now part of Entro) has been design­ing Canada Post stamps. Contin­u­ing this tradi­tion Entro designed the ROM’s Centen­nial stamps and support­ing collat­eral (stamp book­let, first day cover, souvenir sheet and post­card series).

The iconic pieces incor­po­rated into the design repre­sent both World Culture and Natural History. The Michael Lee Chin Crys­tal archi­tec­ture used in the compo­si­tion repre­sents the ROM’s ongo­ing research and vision­ary future. The design itself uses simple typog­ra­phy and lots of white space to honour the beauty and diver­sity of the arti­facts, vener­at­ing each piece as in the museum setting itself.
