Story

As designers of public spaces, accessible and equitable design is of paramount importance. We strive to exceed current standards for accessible design and want to help guide the process of updating and improving the regulations surrounding the built environment.

As part of that effort, we're proud that Entro's Jessica Schrader, Senior Project Manager and Society for Experiential Design (SEGD) NYC Chapter Co-Chair, is the Principal Voting Member of the SEGD Accessible Design Task Force. Jessica, along with two task force advisers, sits on the International Code Council’s A117.1 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities Committee. Their participation gives our community a voice at a Federal level and contributes to industry progress by upholding and enhancing accessibility codes for the built environment.

As part of their work, the task force engages in a rigorous process to identify, illustrate, and outline best practices for communicating and designing compliant and accessible spaces. They developed the SEGD 2012 ADA Update manual, the current standard used daily by the wayfinding, signage and experience design experts. We're excited to be contributing to the SEGD Accessible Design Task Force as they do their part to ensure that new regulations are informed by the experiential design community and that accessible and usable spaces are designed and implemented for all.
