The Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) represents over 3,800 design practitioners, with a mission of creating a network where ‘Canadian designers exchange ideas, educate and inspire, set professional standards and build a strong, supportive community dedicated to advocating for the value of design’. Entro has long been involved with RGD and our team includes many active RGD members, including Doreen Colonello and Laura Sellors. They recently participated in the ‘Creative Directions’ event, held March 4 in Toronto, giving portfolio reviews and contributing to panel discussions. Another member of the Entro team, Teodor Herman, put together some banners focused on interconnectivity and expanding networks through meaningful dialogue for the event, and spent several hours volunteering.

During the one-on-one portfolio reviews, students and professionals had the chance to show their work to representatives of various design agencies to receive feedback and advice on how to best present their work and refine their design process.
Panel discussions surrounded the future of design, with trends that we could anticipate as close to 10 years from now, and how designers and the design field as a whole can plan for these changes. This includes predicting the skills that future designers may need to add to their repertoire, how team collaboration may change, and how businesses are organized.

As RGD's largest annual career development event, Creative Directions creates a platform for emerging creative professionals to engage, converse and connect with businesses and collaborators. This event is recognized as a valuable step in building a successful and gratifying career as a design professional.
